Meet Andy G. Fagan

Andrew (Andy) G. Fagan is the Democratic and Working Family Party Candidate for NYS Assembly District 124. Andy grew up on an upstate dairy farm, was valedictorian of his high school class and graduated with distinction from Cornell University with a BS in Animal Science and a Master of Arts in Teaching Agriculture. After college, he taught at Homer Central School, worked on his family farm and in 1991 he moved to Waverly, NY where he raised three children and began a 31-year career with Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE), including roles as the Coordinator of the NYS Ag in the Classroom Program and Executive Director (ED) of the CCE Associations in both Tioga and Chemung Counties. In his role as ED, Andy oversaw all program areas, managed budgets, worked with community leaders, and reported to state and local officials. He also led the Move Forward (anti-poverty program) and served on the Ag and Farmland Protection Boards in both counties as well as the Chemung County Human Rights Commission.  In 2023, he served as the Interim Exec. Administrator of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. In his retirement from CCE,  he's currently serving on several nonprofit Boards, is president of his church, and works as a singer/songwriter. He's running to be a better voice for the people of his rural district and to make sure that everyone has access to the information and resources they need to live a good life. This includes improving communication; advocating for affordable and accessible child, mental, and healthcare; lowering utility bills; identifying and bringing funding to the district to support infrastructure, housing, job creation, farms, education, the arts, elder care, broad band, small business, and community development. He will also defend reproductive rights and stand up for the human rights of all, including the LGBTQIA community, minorities, and people with disabilities.
